Step Into History at Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

Welcome to Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse

Southern Maine lighthouses attract thousands of visitors every year, but few of them offer the unique opportunity to Step Into History and actually tour a real working lighthouse. Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse is the only caisson-style light station in the United States that visitors can walk to. Located on the breakwater at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland, the lighthouse has been an integral part of the history of Portland harbor and Casco Bay since 1897.

Thank you for visiting the official web site for Spring Point Ledge Lighthouse. We hope you enjoy your virtual tour and will take advantage of an opportunity to visit us in person during our summer Open House season.

You can contribute by volunteering!

The Spring Point Ledge Light Trust is looking to add additional volunteer tour guides, greeters, and ticket shed personnel for our upcoming summer open house season, which begins in June. Enjoy a unique opportunity for fresh air and sunshine, to meet visitors from around the world, and share the lighthouse and its story with fellow lighthouse lovers. We’ll provide the training and you’ll have the flexibility of self-scheduling through our web site.
