Spring Point Ledge Light has the unique distinction of being the only caisson-style lighthouse accessible by land and open for public tours. On weekends during the summer months the Spring Point Ledge Light Trust holds open houses allowing the public to actually enter and explore the lighthouse. A small fee of $5.00 is charged to support the Trust's preservation efforts. Open House hours are 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
|Open house visitors, above, receive a pre-tour briefing prior to entering the lighthouse.|
Beginning 8 June 2013 the lighthouse will be open to the public every Saturday and Sunday through September 1.The lighthouse will be closed 21 July for the Tri For The Cure event held on the adjacent campus of Southern Maine Community College.
The lighthouse will also be open 14 September for Maine Lighthouse Day. For that event only, admission to the lighthouse will be free and the tours will operate at a special time of 9:00 AM - 3:00 PM. The regular opening on Sunday, 15 September will be charged the normal admission fee.
