The breakwater around the base of the lighthouse is often filled with debris and trash left behind by visitors, the wind and the outgoing tides. Volunteers from the University of Southern Maine put on heavy gloves and crawled around among the granite slabs and rocks to retrieve the unsightly trash and leave behind the natural ocean debris. We are pleased to be among 25 community groups participating in the 8th Annual Husky Day of Service. Many thanks to Karen Glidden, Susan Cameron and Anila Karunakar for making the entrance to the lighthouse much more welcoming to our visitors! See Photos on Face Book.
If your group would like to schedule a clean-up day at the lighthouse, please contact our volunteer coordinator in the message box.
